Shimano's range-topping Dura-Ace SPD SL pedals are as good as it gets. Lightweight, great looking and with super smooth bearings.
Dura-Ace pedals carry a premium price tag, and as a long term consumable item, sometimes dropping the cash on these range toppers is a tall ask.
This is a really solid 26% discount from the official Amazon webshop. If you're an SPD SL rider, and want some new pedals, now could be your chance to invest.

The excellent Garmin Edge 540 is discounted in the sale by Garmin by nearly 30%. This is a little less than what this solid little computer has ever been on Amazon.
If you just want a solid computer, with good mapping and screen solution that has all the usual features, you can't go wrong here. Garmin computers are packed with tech.
The 540 has been superceded by the newer 550 unit, but this is still a fantastic option at a great price.

The Garmin Edge 840 is also discounted by 22% in the sale, and this is the cheapest this unit has ever been on Amazon.
The Egde 840 has a lot of the same features as the 540 above, but gains a fat touchscreen.
Garmin units are packed with features, and at times this means you can end up scrolling through screens or switching them whilst riding, something that a touchscreen makes that little bit easier.
If you use your computer a lot while riding and are always switching screens, the touchscreen may be a real advantage for you.

Sticking with computers, here's Wahoo's latest version of its Bolt computer. Sold via the official Wahoo Amazon store, this is the cheapest the Bolt has been on Amazon, and it's cheaper than the Wahoo site currently.
The Bolt is a stylish compact unit with a clear colour screen, the mapping is very easy to use, and for us trumps the Garmin navigation display.
If you don't need as many training and fitness metrics and just want an up-to-date computer with great navigation, this may be the unit for you.

The Roam is the Bolt's big brother, with a bigger colour touch screen that suits anyone who really wants dependable, easy-to-see navigation and mapping.
The touchscreen is also great for quickly scrolling through menus, making changes and zooming in on maps.
This isn't the cheapest the Roam has been on Amazon, but it isn't far off, and it's less than the unit is currently on sale for on the Wahoo website.

The Polar H10 heart rate monitor is a quality choice if you are looking for a new HRM unit for this year.
The H10 uses ECG (electrocardiogram) sensors to measure heart rate, and the unit is considered one of the most accurate on the market.
It isn't rechargeable; instead using a coin cell battery, but it does boast a 400-hour battery life, which is ages.
Heart rate is still a very useful training metric, and the H10 is a great tool to monitor yours.

IGPSPORT is a Chinese computer brand that entered the cycling WorldTour this year – The brand now supplies the Groupama-FDJ squad with computers.
I'm testing the BiNavi right now, and it's a strong challenger to some of the more established brands on the market. Its touch screen is very fast, though the screen resolution isn't quite as premium as other pricier options. It's easy to use, and a lot of the usual metrics and features you might want in a computer are there.
If you want to try something different, at a lower price than some other bigger brands, try a BiNavi out.

How could we leave out the mighty MagicShine 300 rear light?!
This awesome little light isn't the cheapest it's ever been on Amazon, but we still think this is a fair price for such a good rear light. It has been superceded but the 400 unit, but for the money, this is a heck of a lot of light. Why?
The battery life is excellent, the mounts are great, and it's very bright. A rear light is essential year-round for safety, and this is a great one.

It's important to stay on top of your cleat wear; worn cleats can lead to injuries and, at worst, accidents.
Shimano SPD-SL cleats are discounted in the Spring sale right now, so grab them if you need them.
Top tip: Always buy genuine Shimano cleats, don't be tempted to go for cheaper imitation ones, they are never the same quality. I learnt this the hard way.

Silca Super Secret chain lube is one of the best around and has been independently tested as an excellent chain lubricant.
This 20oz bottle is the cheapest it's been on Amazon and is cheaper than the Silca site, with the brand's introductory 10% discount added.
This chain lube will look after your chain and, if used correctly, will help lengthen its lifespan.

Amazon Big Spring Sale: Are the deals any good?
Yes, they are.
We have been pleasantly surprised this time around at the amount of strong deals on offer, particularly in the tech space.
Several items are the chepest they have ever been on Amazon, which isn't always the case for every sale event. Now is a good time to buy many of the items included here.
How we find the best cycling deals
There are several Amazon sale events each year that we cover, but we don't use AI, robots, monkeys with typewriters, nor Santa's elves to compile this content, it's all done by members of the Cyclingnews tech team.
This year, that includes Josh Croxton, Will Jones, Tom Wieckowski, Paul Brett and Graham Cottingham. Each of whom has years of experience writing tech-related bike content for websites and magazines.
Put simply, we trawl the sales looking for products that feature in our buying guides, then if we find a good price, we cross-check it against the rest of the internet.
We use tools to help us. Primarily, we use the strangely-titled but eminently useful CamelCamelCamel tool to check historical pricing. We also use The Wayback Machine to check former listings where necessary.
More pertinently, though, we use our years of experience testing cycling products (bikes, clothing, accessories, tech and so on) to give us a good understanding of what products are good, and which are bad, because no matter how cheap or heavily discounted something is, it's not a 'good deal' if the product is worthless.
We then combine that insight with our knowledge of the industry. We know which brands are popular, and which are not. We sometimes know which are overstocked (and likely to want to discount heavily). We also know if a brand just launched - or might be set to launch - a new model, and thus might want to clear out the older model to make room for the new one.
More than anything, we simply use our understanding of which products are available on the market in each category, what they're priced at, and which of them are the best. If product A is marginally better than product B, but product B becomes significantly cheaper in sales, we make a human judgment on which to recommend. If we still think product A is worth the extra spend, then we'll say that, and likewise Vice Versa. Sometimes we might simply give you the facts and let you make that judgment because only you can truly decide what the best product is for your needs and your budget.
If we find a product that meets the criteria of good, a good price, and is not available cheaper elsewhere, then it gets added. If it is available cheaper elsewhere, we might still include it if it's a good offer, but we'll always share the better price too.

Tom joined the Cyclingnews team in late 2022 as a tech writer. Despite having a degree in English Literature he has spent his entire working life in the cycling industry in one form or another. He has over 10 years of experience as a qualified mechanic, with the last five years before joining Cyclingnews being spent running an independent workshop. This means he is just as happy tinkering away in the garage as he is out on the road bike, and he isn’t afraid to pull a bike apart or get hands-on with it when testing to really see what it’s made of.
He has ridden and raced bikes from an early age up to a national level on the road and track, and has ridden and competed in most disciplines. He has a keen eye for pro-team tech and enjoys spotting new or interesting components in the wild. During his time at Cyclingnews, Tom has already interviewed some of the sport's biggest names including Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogačar and Alberto Contador. He's also covered various launches from brands such as Pinarello, Ridley, Specialized and more, tackled the Roubaix Challenge sportive aboard his own rim-brake Cannondale SuperSix Evo, tested over 20 aero helmets in the wind tunnel, and has created helpful in-depth buying advice relating to countless categories from torque wrenches to winter clothing.
