The Vuelta's Grande Partenza gets underway in Turin, a first-ever Italian start for the Spanish Grand Tour. It's also the first opportunity for sprinters to take the lead on the opening day of the Vuelta since 2007, when, as it happens, an Italian fastman – Daniele Bennati – won in Vigo.v
