Overview
The 2018 Amgen Tour of California will take place May 13-19 for its second run on the WorldTour calendar.
The 13th edition of the race is set to begin in Southern California - only the fourth time the race has headed in a northerly direction. It begins in Long Beach outside of Los Angeles and soon shifts the focus from the sprinters to the climbers. The first key stage of the 2018 event comes on stage 2, which finishes atop the punishing climb on Gibraltar Road, the same finish that propelled Julian Alaphilippe to the overall victory in 2016.

King City debuts as a host of the start of stage 3, which finishes at the Laguna Seca raceway.
The race's second decisive stage comes with a time trial in San Jose on stage 4, followed by a stage from Stockton to Elk Grove, a mountain stage to South Lake Tahoe, and an overall finish in Sacramento.
Team LottoNl-Jumbo's George Bennett won the overall in 2017 ahead of Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Andrew Talansky (Cannondale-Drapac).
