Jensen claims victory on stage 3 of Arctic Race of Norway

Team Coop's August Jensen pipped Dylan Teuns (BMC Racing) on Saturday's queen stage of the Arctic Race of Norway. The 25-year-old Norwegian narrowly bested the race leader in an uphill sprint atop the Finnvikdalen climb, with Cofidis' Dorian Godon claiming third.

Teuns' second-place finish was enough to keep him in the leader's jersey for another day, but Jensen sits just three seconds behind in the general classification as Sunday's final stage looms.

The lumpy stage saw an early break jump clear five kilometres into the action only to be reeled back in 20 minutes later before a move with more staying power managed to get clear.

Truls Korsaeth (Astana), Ole Andre Austevoll (Team Coop), Sébastien Delfosse (WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect), Hugo Hofstetter (Cofidis), Adrien Petit (Direct Energie), Boris Vallée (Fortuneo-Oscaro) and Daniel Diaz (Delko Marseille-Provence KTM) formed the main escape that hung on for most of the day out front. They worked their advantage out to a maximum of around four minutes, but the peloton began very gradually reeling things in with around 70 kilometres to go.

The escape was ultimately swept up five kilometres from the finish, setting up a battle among the rider still in the main pack.

Astana's Andriy Grivko jumped away with three kilometres to go. He stayed clear nearly into final kilometre before the chasing pack reeled him back in. The high pace kept things together pulling onto the finishing straight, where Jensen, the lone rider from Northern Norway in the event, proved quickest to the line.
