Lucinda Brand wins Krawatencross
European champion beats Worst and Alvarado in the mud and rain
Lucinda Brand (Baloise Trek Lions) won the Krawatencross in Lille, Belgium, battling through the rain, mud and heavy sand in her first race since last weekend’s cyclo-cross world championships in the USA.
Now without the world champion’s rainbow jersey, Brand raced in her European champion’s colours and dominated the race. She finished 57 seconds ahead of Annmarie Worst (777) and 1:51 ahead of Ceylin Del Carmen Alvarado (Alpecin-Fenix).
It was Brand's 18th win of the winter and she again took home the famous X²O Trofee series rubber duck.
In the earlier Junior women’s race, new world champion Zoe Backstedt won by almost a minute.
