2014 Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol
Returning in 2014 is the race known as the 'Ruta del Sol' with several big names ready to challenge for the overall victory. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) is defending the tile he was won in the past two years in a race that has been dominated by Spaniards in the last two decades. Since 1998 only three non-Iberian riders have won the event with Michael Rogers the most recent in 2010.
Lining up is 2012 Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) while Michele Scarponi will be looking to impress in his new Astana team colours. Marcel Kittel (Giant Shimano) will be looking to mop up flat stages and continue his good start to the year so far.
The race begins with a short prologue but it is Stage 2 from La Guardia de Jaén to Cabra that is set to decide the overall classification as the queen stage of the five day race.
