Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) won her third Tour of Britain Women stage in four days, winning the sprint of a reduced group after a hilly stage 4 through Wales. Liane Lippert (Movistar) finished second, Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished third and defended her GC lead.
A breakaway of three was caught on the Hengoed climb, though not by the whole peloton as QOM jersey Lauren Dickson (FDJ United-Suez) had crashed, splitting the bunch.
Things came back together after the climb, and Movistar did a lead-out into Clyro Hill, the last climb of the day where Lippert went all-in, quickly getting away with Le Court-Pienaar on her wheel.
At the QOM point with 16.2km to go, they were four seconds ahead of Josie Nelson, Lorena Wiebes, Femke de Vries, and Shirin van Anrooij, and the four chasers closed the gap to the front duo together with Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco).
In a fast final, this front group of seven worked well together, but just after the 5km mark, a group of five came back from behind. There were several attacks in the final kilometres, but Wiebes closed them all down and then launched her sprint to win the stage.
