The 2012 UCI World Cup opens in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in mid-March. Racers and fans have been waiting months to find out who is the fastest after a long off-season. This World Cup is one of the first four, which will play a crucial role in qualifications of nations and individuals for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Pietermaritzburg has previously hosted the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and will host the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in 2013.
In 2012, the World Cup round will include cross country and downhill events.
