In what promises to be an enthralling day of racing, Stage 6 has all the ingredients to deliver. The first Hors Catégorie climb of the race is joined by three further categorised ascents, making for a relentless day in the mountains. The legendary Col du Tourmalet (17.1km at 7.3%) is the headline challenge, coming 130km into the stage. However, it is not where the race will be decided, with a further ascent to Gavarnie-Gèdre (18.7km at 3.7%) still to come before the finish.
On paper, this looks like another chapter in the battle between Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard. Vingegaard and his team will welcome the longer climbs, but that no longer appears to be a factor that particularly troubles the indomitable Slovenian. Tom Pidcock, Paul Seixas and Remco Evenepoel will also look to give good accounts of themselves, but this is already appearing to be a two-horse race.
