Qantas Cup - Round 2 - Chandler Velodrome

All riders were set to compete at the Chandler Velodrome in Brisbane last night, March 22, 2002, for the second round of the Qantas cup, unfortunately the weather had other ideas.

With the venue being an outdoor velodrome, there was only on thing which could stop the night's event, and that was exactly what happened. Rain picked up just before racing began and quickly affected the track. Organisers decided that the track would be dangerous for riders, and cancelled the round.

This means that competition comes down to round three in Sydney on Saturday night, with WA having a lead of three points over NSW. Since the Qantas Cup is part of the selection process for the 2002 Commonwealth Games later this year, all riders are going to be riding to impress.

Racing starts at 7:30pm in Sydney's Dunc Gray Velodrome, all atheletes will be glad that the venue is undercover so the weather will have no chance of claiming another night of competition.
