Mike Turtur, race director comments: "This is something new for the race
- an entire open road stage held within the same council area with the
start and finish in the same town!
The completion of the three laps of the circuit will see the peloton
tackle the longest climb of the race, the famous Old Willunga Hill which
will be a possible springboard for a late attack, coming only 20km from
the finish.
The Willunga township took the Overall Best Dressed Town Award for 2001
and have supported the race since its inception. We expect to see another
terrific turnout with the circuit concept providing great entertainment
all day for the spectators. Be sure to take a look at the houses along
the Silver Sands beach front and the festivities and celebrations within
the township."
