Tour Down Under 2019
Impey wins Tour Down Under as Porte takes Willunga
Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) finished third on Willunga Hill behind stage winner Richie Porte (Trek-Seagfredo) and runner-up Wout Poels (Team Sky) to seal his second consecutive overall win at the Tour Down Under. Overnight leader Patrick Bevin (CCC Team) faded on the first time up the iconic climb and surrendered his race lead. Porte finished second overall followed by Poels, Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana) and Rohan Dennis (Aus) Bahrain-Merida.

2019 Tour Down Under race overview
The 2019 Tour Down Under once again kicks off the WorldTour season in Australia. The racing begins with the People's Choice Classic on January 13 and the peloton moves straight into the stage race held from January 15 to 20 in and around Adelaide.
The climb of Willunga Hill features as the climax to the 2019 Tour Down Under, as the Australian UCI WorldTour event eschews its final 'Champs-Elysées-like' processional stage in favour of a 'queen stage' that should keep things exciting right to the very end.
In 2019, last year's winner Darly Impey (Mitchelton Scott) returns to defend his crown. He will be joined by Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe), Richie Porte (Trek Segafredo) and Rohan Dennis (Bahrain Merida). The race also represents Caleb Ewan's first outing as a Lotto Soudal rider after his move from Mitchelton Scott.

2018 Tour Down Under
Last year, Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) won the overall title at the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under. Impey took the overall title from defending champion Richie Porte (BMC Racing), who placed second but with the same overall time. Tom-Jelte Slagter (Dimension Data), another former winner of the race, completed the final overall podium in third.
