Almost a carbon copy of the previous day's stage, there are three cat 2 and one cat 1 climb to keep it interesting. Like the previous day, teams will be protecting their GC hopes, but there may be the opportunity for a climber to take a piece of glory near the end of the race. This stage signals the end of the serious climbing, which may further encourage a rider low on GC to have a crack at a stage win before the sprinters light it up in the run to Madrid.
