Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race 2019
After finishing second at the 2018 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-QuickStep) went one better in 2019 to take home the victory in the fifth running of the race. Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) was the only rider able to come close to matching Viviani's turn of pace, but had to settle for second place with Tour Down Under winner Daryl Impey holding on take third.
Viviani had to withstand plenty of pressure throughout the race with a number of teams interested in dropping the sprinters in the peloton. Despite a number of attacks over the final two laps of the race, Viviani held on to the front group and had a clear run to the line after Michael Morkov perfectly delivered him to the sprint.
