Dutch trifeca on the podium
Dutchman David Van der Poel claimed his second win of the weekend in the Superprestige Hamme Zogge, besting his fellow countrymen Mike Teunissen and Gert-Jan Bosman in a three-man sprint for the line.
On a sunny morning in East Flanders, a stiff wind made for a tactical race in all of the Superprestige races. The Dutch riders put in a dominant performance over the home favourites, with series leader Laurens Sweeck struggling with a cold.
Jens Adams was able to salvage the Belgian pride with a fourth place ahead of series runner-up Michiel Van der Heijden. The latter now trails Sweeck, who finished 10th, by a slim two points in the standings.
