Itzulia Basque Country 2020
Details of the stage race's 60th edition
The 60th edition of Itzulia Basque Country will take place from Tuesday April 4 to Sunday April 11, 2020. Lasting six days, the race takes in roads across the autonomous community in northern Spain, from the coasts to the hills that dominate the race.
Climbs such as the Alto de Arrate, Alto de Aia and the Alto de Asensio – mostly short-to-mid-sized and often steep – decide the race, with most stages in the six-day race barely featuring a metre of flat ground.
Ion Izagirre (Astana) took victory at the 2019 edition of the race, taking the race lead on the final stage, a hectic race in the hills around Eibar. The home rider was part of an elite attack group that distanced previous leader Emanuel Buchmann midway through the final stage.
