The Giro dell'Emilia remains an important end of season Italian classic that has been won by the likes of Eddy Merckx, Gianni Bugno, Nairo Quintana and most recently, Davide Rebellin. The 99th edition of the race follows a familiar route through from Bologna, through Emilia, and finishing with four laps of the San Luca circuit.
