Race Situation
Filippo Ganna stormed to victory with his GC leader, Thymen Arensman, taking second on the day as Max Walscheid stops an Ineos Grenadiers podium lock-out with Magnus Sheffield in fourth.

Filippo Ganna wins stage one of the 2026 Tirreno-Adriatico.
Hayter finishes in eighth place at 32 seconds off Ganna. And, Cosnefroy isn't anywhere near on the timings.
Healy way down, he finishes 49 seconds down on Ganna. Disappointing for the Irishman.

Milan is provisional 5th at 29 seconds down on Ganna.

Filippo Ganna takes the lead by 22 over teammate, Thymen Arensman. What a dominant performance by the Italian time trial champion.
Flamme Rouge for Filippo Ganna and he is going to dominate today.
Ganna flies passed Alessandro Covi (Jayco-AlUla). Very nearly clipping the back wheel of his fellow countryman.
Healy with a sluggish start by his standards at 26 seconds down on Ganna.
Now, coming to the line, Roglič finishes nine seconds down on Arensman. Strong performance and well paced.
33 seconds lost for Storer to Arensman at the finish.
Ganna takes the lead at the split by three seconds over Sheffield and Walscheid. Milan slots in six seconds down on Ganna.
British national champion, Ethan Hayter (Soudal-QuickStep) sets off. He is the penultimate rider off the ramp with just Cosnefroy to come.
Roglič 12 seconds down at the split.
Jorgenson finishes 22 seconds down at the finish. He comes into this after winning Paris-Nice for the second time last year. He has turned his attention to Tirreno-Adriatico, though.

Tiberi slots in just 11 seconds down on Arensman at the finish.
Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) sets off on his ride.
Van der Poel rolls round and finishes over a minute and a half down. He's here for stages.
Favourite for the day, Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers), sets off on his ride.
Tiberi is seven seconds down at the split with Jorgenson at 17 seconds.
Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) sets off on his ride. One of the big name favourites rolls off the ramp. He'll be hoping to take a third Tirreno title.
Belgian GC man, Van Wilder, finishes 26 seconds down on Arensman. He should be relatively happy with that.
Michael Storer (Tudor) gets off on his ride in Lido di Camaiore.
Carapaz finishes 54 seconds down on Arensman. Not the ideal start for the former Olympic champion.
Tiberi and Jorgenson have both set off on their efforts.
Van Wilder goes six seconds down at the split.
Ciccone crosses the line 32 seconds down on GC rival, Arensman. Maybe he will just be going for stages instead, this week.
New fastest time
Thymen Arensman goes fastest by four seconds over Max Walscheid. That is a superb ride by one of the pre-race favourites.
Carapaz is 24 seconds down at the split.
Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Premier Tech) sets off on his ride.
Hindley finishes 23 seconds down on Walscheid. Not a bad effort for the Australian.
Arensman just one second behind the leaders of Sheffield and Walscheid at the time split.
Just 25 minutes until the last man, Benoit Cosnesfroy (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), sets off.
10 minutes until Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious) and Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) set off on their respective efforts one after the other.
Hindley is 14 seconds down on Sheffield and Walscheid after 5km.
Five minutes until Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal-QuickStep) sets off and about seven minutes until Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Premier Tech) rolls off the ramp.
Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) sets off on his 2026 season with his first race of the year.
Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) has just set off with Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) setting off in about two minutes time.
Luca Giami (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) finishes in ninth for the moment, 20 seconds down. The 21-year-old has only just moved up from the development team as his squad were hit by injuries.
Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor) and Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) have set off on their rides.
New fastest time
Max Walscheid doesn't even let Magnus Sheffield even get off the bike before he loses his first place position.
Pellizzari just seven seconds down on Hatherly. That is a very impressive ride by the young Italian.
Walscheid is a fraction of a second down on Sheffield at the split.
Sheffield goes six seconds faster than Großschartner at the time split. That is 12 seconds faster than Hatherly, who leads at the finish. Can the American finally topple the South African?
Pellizzari goes just three tenths slower than Großschartner at the time split. However, can the Italian climber keep this up? Or will Hatherly come back to hold his lead at the finish?
Max Walscheid (Lidl-Trek) sets off on his ride. Depending on his objectives, he could have a great ride here.
Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers) sets off on his ride. The American has a habit of crashing in technical corners on time trials. Hopefully he can have a clean ride today.
Großschartner coming to the line in third down on Hatherly by eight seconds. The second half by Hatherly was absolutely rapid.
Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) has set off on his ride.
Austrian national champion, Felix Großschartner (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), has flown out of the blocks and goes fastest at the split by two tenths of a second over teammate, Del Toro. But, Del Toro was beaten by Hatherly who sits sex seconds down at the split.
Colombian champion, Brandon Rivera (Ineos Grenadiers), was just four second down at the split, now he comes to the finish and he is 23 seconds down. He lost 25 seconds in the second half of the stage to Hatherly.
After the finish, Welsford said in a TV interview: "Must have got a little bit too excited in the first half, felt food but gelt in the last 3km but I'm happy with the shape, wind is interesting like a cross head, probably the sprinter in me to go for the first intermediate.
"We have some big GC goals but also a couple of sprint opportunities. I'll help the guys for the GC stages and they'll help me for the sprints. It's my first Tirreno-Adriatico so I'm excited to get going."

Buitrago finishes 20 seconds down on Hatherly. He was on the same time as the South African at the split.
Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) is down at the split by six seconds on Del Toro at the split but is on the same time as Hatherly at that point.
Del Toro misses out on the fastest time by six seconds on Hatherly. The Mexican lost 12 seconds in the second half of that ride to Hatherly.
Isaac Del Toro goes fastest at the split, he leads by four seconds over Welsford but six seconds ahead of leader at the finish, Hatherly.
Welsford goes third fastest with a terrific ride by the Australian sprinter with him 10 seconds down on Hatherly.
Jan Christen spoke to TV crews after his ride... "The TT wasn't the best for me but I managed well considering I haven't trained on the TT as I am not doing GC here, so I am happy with my time. It is super nice, I hope Isaac does similar or even better so we have a strong GC position. We are here with a strong team so we hope to win the GC."

Bax slots into third at just 19 seconds down on Hatherly.
Sam Welsford (Ineos Grenadiers) out on course, he'll be hoping to have some good opportunities in the sprints this week.
Sjoerd Bax (Pinarello-Q36.5) with a surprisingly strong ride at the split, he's just four seconds off Hatherly's time.
Jan Christen crosses the line and misses the time by South African, Hatherly, by just nine seconds.
Christen goes fastest at the time split by just one second over Hatherly.
Andrea Vendrame (Jayco-AlUla) showing that the equipment for the Aussie team are running fast with the Italian slotting into a surprise third just 24 seconds down on teammate, Hatherly.
Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) has set off on his ride.
Wout Van Aert spoke to TNT Sports after he finished saying "the feeling was good, I came in without expectations for the TT, I pushed a little bit for a warm up for the rest of the race. I hope to be there to battle for a stage win so we shall have a few stages to try and go for it."
Not many people have managed to challenge the top names. Michael Valgren (EF Education-EasyPost) slotted into sixth at 38 seconds on Hatherly.
One of the big in form riders in world cycling at the moment, Tobias Lund Andresen (Decathlon-CMA CGM), has set off on his ride.
Gianni Moscon (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) and Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Intermarche) are both out on course at the moment.
Connor Swift (Ineos Grenadiers) finished well and slotted himself into third after being down in sixth at the split.
New best time
Alan Hatherly goes fastest by 22 seconds over Jan Tratnik who had only just taken the lead himself. Hatherly set a time of 12'38".
Van Aert recovered well with a negative split but it wasn't enough. He finishes three seconds down on new leader, Bilbao.

Bilbao goes a tenth of a second faster than Johannessen at the finish and takes the lead!
Alan Hatherly (Jayco-AlUla) goes two seconds faster than Tratnik at the split. The South African mountain bike star is flying.
Tratnik goes fastest at the split by just two seconds over Johannessen with Van Eetvelt losing 14 seconds at halfway.
New fastest time
Tobias Johannessen sets the fastest time with a 13'15", putting him nine seconds ahead of Emiel Verstrynge.
First finisher
Vestrynge crosses the line with a time of 13'24". How will that stack up against the rest?
Van Eetvelt and Tratnik have both set off on their rides.
Van Aert has not started well at all with the Visma-Lease a Bike man already down by 10 seconds on Johannessen at the halfway point.
Bilbao just misses out on besting Johannessen by two seconds at the intermediate time check.
Another possible GC rider in the race is Norwegian Uno-X Mobility rider, Tobias Johannessen, who started very early and leads at the split after five riders with an advantage of eight seconds over Verstrynge.
Van Aert sets off on his ride. One of the early big name favourites. But, how is the Belgian's form after illness, injuries and various other set backs?
Some early riders to watch for are Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious) who is setting off now, he is immediately followed by Wout Van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) then a few minutes later Jan Tretnik (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) and Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto-Intermarche) start their race.
Verstrynge sets off and the racing at Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 begins!
Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) comes into the race as one of the big favourites, but says that racing is getting faster and he gets older...
The first rider, Emiel Verstrynge (Alpecin-Premier Tech), is set to roll off the start ramp in around 10 minutes time.

The race opens with the usual individual time trial around Lido di Camaiore just 11.5km of racing on this pan flat course. Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) will be hoping he can add to his earlier TT win at the Volta ao Algarve earlier in the year.
