Evans completes Team USA success with final stage win

Team USA's Shelley Evans capped of an enormously successful Giro Donne today, winning the final stage over Cervelo's Kirsten Wild and Giorgia Bronzini (Gauss RDZ Ormu). It was the third stage victory for the US National Team and icing on the cake of Mara Abbott's overall victory.

Abbott became the first rider from that country to win the Giro Donne, following up on her second place finish last year, finishing safely in the main bunch. She held onto a 2:05 margin over HTC-Columbia's Judith Arndt and a further minute over world champion Tatiana Guderzo (Team Valdarno) in the final standings.

Pooley brought home the mountains jersey for the Cervelo Test Team as a consolation for the team missing out on the final podium. She and last year's winner Claudia Häusler finished just outside the top three.

The title of best young rider remained with Marianne Vos (Netherlands), who wore the pink jersey for two days before conceding it to Abbott on Friday.

Guderzo claimed the jersey for best Italian.
