It’s not meant to be a range topping choice but are the iconic stripes enough?

Cyclingnews Verdict

The Road Cycling Shoe from Adidas carries the iconic stripes and shoots for the mid-range and anyone looking for a comfortable stylish shoe. Serious cyclists will find the sole a bit too flexible but the upper is comfortable and stylish. You might want to keep an eye on the sales though as you are being asked to pay a slight premium for the iconic stripes.

Despite its relatively little-known status in cycling these days, Adidas has a rich history in the sport that reaches all the way back to 1956. The brand donned the feet of legendary cyclist Eddy Merckx through much of his career and was a mainstay for many years in professional cycling. In 2005, the brand released the Adistar Road SL shoes, but then went quiet until 2020.

Design and aestheticsThe green isn’t quite my style but black or white are very stylish and no matter what colour you like, people will ask about them. 8/10
ComfortInstead of being comfortable in spite of the performance, these are comfortable first. Use them in the way Adidas envisioned and they are very comfortable.10/10
PerformanceThese are not high performing shoes. That’s not the intent but it’s also not the outcome.5/10
Weight294 grams is almost double the lightest shoes but it’s fine at this price. Still a bit heavier than Fizik or Bontrager entry level shoes.7/10
ValueThere’s a style tax compared to other entry level shoes. These are very comfortable but no matter how you look at it, the price is a little bit higher. 7/10
