South African Team Full Imput wins stage five

Low temperatures and rain made stage five the toughest of the race thus far. It had to be modified after a landslide took rocks and land across the originally planned route.

It took more than four hours for racers to get through the 68km in the weather, and the entire stage was run near the Chosuenco Volcano in the Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve.

Team Full Input's Shane Thomson, and Harold George from South Africa won the stage in three hours and 50 minutes. They were followed by race leaders Team Giant-Nuun including Martín Flaño and Nicolás Prudencio of Chile. They finished eight minutes behind the leaders.
