Keisse and Schep take over on night 2

Iljo Keisse and Peter Schep used the first Madison on the second day of the 70th Zesdaagse Vlaanderen-Gent to take the overall lead and now sit ahead of four teams: Kenny De Ketele and Leif Lampater, Alex Rasmussen and Michael Morkov, Alexander Aeschbach and Franco Marvulli and Robert Bartko and Danilo Hondo.

De Ketele and Lampater took the first of the sprint series before the local lad and Schep won the elimination race. Experienced Swiss riders Marvulli and Aeschbach won both the flying lap and 500m time trial and would end the night in fourth place overall.

Rasmussen and Morkov prevailed in the first Madison whilst Jens-Erik Madsen and Marc Hester won the second of the night. After a consistent evening's racing, however, it was Keisse and Schep who took overall honours and hold a 11-point advantage over Lampater and De Ketele.

A win in the derny final helped Keisse's cause as did fourth in the second Madison of the evening; whilst it's a slender lead enjoyed by the Belgian-Dutch duo the hometown support should help during the third night of racing in the hotbed of cycling that is Gent.
