Following the UCI's announcement that they have opened an investigation into his involvement in Operación Puerto, Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) will not take part in Sunday's GP Ouest France Plouay, according to AFP. The rider was to use the event as preparation for the World Championships, but now that he has been barred from racing that event, he will not participate in the French race.
