Columbian rider Freddy Montana of the Boyaca Es Para Vivila - Marche Team was hit by a car last weekend while training on the road in Italy. His team was there training as preparation for several upcoming European races.
The 24 year-old Montana was unconscious for more than 48 hours with severe head trauma, but is seeing improvement. Montana awoke on his own Wednesday morning and was able to communicate well enough to complain of a headache.
He was ranked 28th in the UCI America Tour as of May 1.
