Swede Lindgren wins hilly fourth stage

Sweden’s Johan Lindgren (Team Cykelcity) claimed a sprint victory from a selection of 35 riders in Butchen on the Olympia Tour’s Stage 4. Lindgren held off Dutch riders Raymond Kreder (Holowesko Partners-Felt-Garmin Development Team) and Ronan Van Zandbeek (Van Vilet EBH Eishof) at the line to claim the win.

A group of 20 riders split from the peloton over the final kilometres, losing eight seconds on the front group on the run to the finish line. Some 60 riders dropped more than 16 minutes on the stage.

America’s Taylor Phinney (Trek-Livestrong U23) continues to lead the race after finishing in seventh place. He holds a 48 second lead in the general classification over Rabobank Continental Team’s Coen Vermelftoort.

Just two stages remain in the Dutch race, a 105.4 kilometre road race in Hoofddorp on Saturday morning followed by a 9.5 kilometre individual time trial in the afternoon. Phinney is favoured to hold on to the overall lead and win the race.
