Dylan Groenewegen scored a third straight victory for his new Unibet Rose Rockets team in the space of one week, winning the Ronde van Brugge in a reduced bunch sprint over Jasper Philipsen and Max Kanter.
Ronde Van Brugge - Tour of Bruges history
The Ronde Van Brugge - Tour of Bruges, known as the Classic Brugge-De Panne until this year, began in 1977 as a three-day stage race called the Driedaagse De Panne and served as the final tune-up for the Tour of Flanders.
Article continues belowIn 2018, it was transformed into a one-day Spring Classic event and switched its spot on the calendar earlier, swapping with Dwars door Vlaanderen which also then meant that race took over as the key option to dial in the race form before the long-standing Ronde.
A Women’s WorldTour one-day race was added for a second day of racing in the transitional year and the men’s race was upgraded to the WorldTour in 2019.
Under the new format, Italian Elia Viviani won the race, setting a tone for bunch finishers and the top sprinters in the world. The next year Dutch speedster Dylan Groenewegen took the top honours.
In 2020, the event moved to late October and became the final WorldTour race on the COVID-19-pandemic-altered calendar and Yves Lampaert rode solo to the victory. Back to its spring position in 2021, Sam Bennett continued the winning streak in a bunch sprint for Deceuninck-QuickStep, while Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix) was the victor in 2022.

Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won a cold, wet and windy edition in 2023 and then scooped up the 2024 edition as well, riding the wave after claiming the top spot at Milan-San Remo.
Philipsen was then held up in the crash-filled finale of 2025 and it was Juan Sebastian Molano who surged away with 400 metres to go. Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) closed down the gap but couldn't quite get past Molano before the line and was second, with Estonian Madis Mihkels third.
In 2026 Philipsen will be returning to see if he can resume the winning run.
