After two stages of racing at the Trans Andes, Team Jamis occupies the top favorite spots as leaders in both the men's duo and men's solo categories.
Jason Sager and Benjamín Sontag (Team Jamis) won the stage in a time of three hours, 43 minutes and 29 seconds. They increased their lead to 17 minutes and 29 seconds over Team Trek-Zaboo-Damatta's Javier Püschel and Simon Zahnd. Meanwhile, Blake Harlan (Jamis) collected his second stage win and leads the overall in the solo men's open race.
Mary McConneloug and Michael Broderick (Team Kenda/Seven/NoTubes) won the open mixed category, finishing in 3:44:06. Chileans Elisa García and Claus Plaut were second.
Racers completed 66 demanding kilometers of time sections and a 16km linking stage through mountainous terrain located within the Huilo Huilo Reserve and Coñaripe Thermal Complex. Along the way, they passed through Neltume and Liquiñe. The day's route featured steep climbing and technical, downhill sections.
On Wednesday, stage 3 will take racers over 80km within the Coñaripe Thermal Complex and Menetué Thermal Complex. They'll pass volcanos as they go through the Villarrica National Park.
