Biography:

Ellen van Dijk was born on February 11, 1987, in Harmelen, Netherlands.


Van Dijk has been competing for 18 seasons in professional cycling, having started her career with Vrienden van het Platteland in 2006. She then moved to Team Columbia in 2009, where she stayed for five seasons through its title sponsors HTC-Highroad and Specialized-lululemon until 2013. Van Dijk then joined Boels Dolmans from 2014-16, followed by Team Sunweb for 2017-18, and then joined Trek-Segafredo in 2019, where she is currently contracted through the end of 2024.

Among her crowning achievements, Van Dijk has won the individual time trial at the UCI Road World Championships three times; 2013 and 2021-2022, along with the team time trial world titles in 2012-13 and 2016-17. She is also the reigning UCI Hour Record holder extending the distance by more than 800m when she set a new mark of 49.254km in Grenchen in 2022.


Van Dijk is one of the most experienced and reliable domestiques in professional cycling and an all-round versatile athlete with victories at the Tour of Flanders and the European Championships while also winning overall titles at stage races Ladies Tour of Qatar, Lotto-Belisol Belgium Tour, Healthy Ageing Tour and Challenge by La Vuelta.
