Kenny Van Hummel (Ski-Shimano) sprinted to his third consecutive victory at the Tour of Hainan. The 28-year-old Dutchman bested Bartlomiej Matysiak (CCC Polsat Polkowice) and Yuri Metlushenko (Ukraine) in the bunch sprint deciding a rain-shortened stage seven concluding in Danzhou.

The torrential rains that flooded roads and cancelled the previous day's stage continued today, which forced the race organisation to shorten the planned 172.8km stage to 64km. The peloton was transported by bus for the first 2/3 of the stage, but were able to contest the final 64km on their bikes, albeit still in heavy rain.

Valentin Iglinskiy (Astana) remains in the overall lead with two stages remaining. The Kazakh rider leads Johnnie Walker (Footon-Servetto) by 19 seconds and Kiel Reijnen (Jelly Belly Presented By Kenda) by 21 seconds.
