Past Winners | 2015 | 2014 | 2013
The 2016 Tour of Alberta returns September 1 for a fourth year on the UCI calendar. The five-day UCI 2.1 stage race in the Canadian province east of British Colombia begins with a circuit race in Lethbridge and concludes Monday, September 5, with a circuit race in Edmonton.
The 2016 route runs visits the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the west and the expansive Alberta plains to the east. Defending champion Bauke Mollema returns with a Trek-Segafredo team that features retiring riders Frank Schleck and Ryder Hesjedal, Canada's only Grand Tour winner. Trek-Segafredo will have to contend with fellow WorldTour team Cannondale-Drapac, which is fielding two riders who finished in the top 10 last year in Toms Skujins [seventh] and Mike Woods [10th].
