Biography:
Ben Healy was born in Kingswinford, England on September 11, 2000 and holds proudly to his Irish heritage, thanks to Cork grandparents on his father's side of the family.
As a teenager he raced several years with British club teams, and at age 18 with Team Wiggins Le Col he became the youngest stage winner at Tour de l'Avenir. In 2020 he won the U23 Irish time trial national title, then two days later added the elite men's road race national title. In a second season with Trinity Racing in 2021, he had three podiums at the U23 Giro, including a stage win.
EF Education-EasyPost signed Healy to a WorldTour contract for 2022, and he went on that season to win another Irish national title, this time in the men's elite time trial, while taking a bronze medal in the elite road race.
Healy broke through in the spring of 2023 at the age of 22 with a series of top results, including a stage win and third overall at Settimana Coppi e Bartali, then a win at GP Industria & Artigianato. His stock rose even further during the Ardennes Classics as he finished second at Brabantse Pijl and Amstel Gold Race before narrowly missing the podium at Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Further success came with a 50km solo win at the Giro d'Italia, and he captured the Irish road race championship.
After going fourth on GC at Etoile de Bessèges and Volta ao Algarve to start 2024, his year was then a bit quieter as he focused on stage racing, earning a stage victory at Tour of Slovenia, taking a pair of top 10s at the Tour de France and impressing with 10th at the Olympic Games seventh at the World Championships, both of those in the road races.
