There is no rest for the wicked and the Vuelta a España painfully proves this to be true in the form of two mountain-top finishes following the first time trial. The riders will start the 167-kilometre stage nine with a pair of second category climbs at Monrepós and Serrablo. Afterwards, the stage will travel along with only one objective in mind: Cerler.
The final climb up Estación de esquí Cerler is 12.6 kilometres long, with an average slope of 5.5% gradient and sections that hold at 10%. It will certainly be a day for the mountain men to strike back and gain any time lost the day before.
