Specialized confirm long-term partnership with McLaren
By BikeRadar
Deal to include tech exchange and development program
Specialized’s partnership with motor company McLaren was first made public back in March with the unveiling of the S-Works Venge. Far from being a one-off collaboration, we caught a glimpse of a still-in-development Tarmac SL4 that had been given the McLaren touch at this year's Tour de France.
Now Specialized have confirmed they've entered into a long-term relationship with the Formula 1 giants, that will "focus exclusively on breakthrough products and technologies that provide true performance benefits to cyclists."
What that specifically means is unclear, with both Specialized and McLaren playing their cards close to their chests, but it will involve equipment as well as frames.
Mark Cavendish was lucky enough to be presented with one of the special S-Works Venge bikes before he rode this year's Milan-San Remo.
