Three Norwegians rumoured for Team Sky

Norwegians Edvald Boasson Hagen (Columbia-HTC) and Lars Petter Nordhaug (Joker-Bianchi) are reported to have signed for the new British squad, Team Sky. Also, current Norwegian national champion Kurt Asle Arvesen (Team Saxo Bank) may be on his way to the team, according to Norwegian news agency NTB.

The recruitment of 25-year-old Nordhaug is reported to have come on Boasson Hagen's initiative. They were teammates at Norwegian Continental team Joker-Bianchi before Boasson Hagen went to High Road (now named Columbia) in 2008 and rode for his country in the Beijing Olympics road race. The 2006 Norwegian road champion recently won a stage in the Tour of Ireland, as well as a stage in the Tour of Normandy in March.

The manager of both riders, Birger Hungerholt, has not commented on the matter for the moment, but said that everything would be revealed next week.

Arvesen, who doesn't have an agent, told newspaper Dagbladet that he had two options for next year.

"I'm down to two teams now. I'll check up the fine print before I decide. There will be a press release from the team as soon as I have printed, signed, scanned and clicked the 'send' button," said the reigning Norwegian champion.

One of these two teams is confirmed to be his current squad Saxo Bank. "We have made an offer to Arvesen, and now we have to wait for his decision," the team's press officer Brian Nygaard told Cyclingnews. "I can't speculate on the outcome right now. For sure, Kurt is a valuable member of our team who we would like to keep."
