ISD signs two from Barloworld

Italians Diego Caccia and Paolo Longo Borghini, both members of the now defunct UCI Pro Continental team Barloworld, have signed with Italy's ISD team for the 2010 season. ISD's manager Angelo Citracca was looking to bolster his team's support next year for leaders Giovanni Visconti and newly signed José Rujano.

"We needed to strengthen the team with men of experience and who are well able to work hard for our lead riders," said Citracca. "Caccia and Longo Borghini reflect exactly the kind of riders who we were looking for. We are sure that they will work really well for the cause of Visconti and Rujano throughout the year."

Diego Caccia, 28, turned professional in 2006 with Barloworld and remained on the team all four years of his career. Caccia has thrice placed in the top 10 at Italy's time trial national championship with his best result, sixth, in 2008. This year Caccia finished third in a stage at the Presidential Tour of Turkey and finished his first Grand Tour, the Giro d'Italia.

Paolo Longo Borghini, 28, became a professional in 2004 with Vini Caldirola - Nobili Rubinetterie and has been on Barloworld since the 2007 season. Longo Borghini won the 2006 GP Nobili Rubinetterie - Borgomanero while on the Ceramica Flaminia team and has completed two Grand Tours with Barloworld, the 2007 Tour de France and the 2009 Giro d'Italia. The Italian finished fourth in the third stage of the 2008 Tour de France, but dropped out during the 11th stage.
