2019 Tour of Utah: More than 11,500 metres of climbing over 7 days

Ben Hermans (Israel Cycling Academy) continued his string of impressive stage race results, following a win in the Tour of Austria and second overall in the Adriatica Ionica Race with a well-controlled win in the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah.

Hermans topped James Piccoli (Elevate KHS) and Joe Dombrowski (EF Education First in the overall classification.

Hermans moved into the race lead with a strong ride on Powder Mountain, winning there and the next day in North Salt Lake. The Belgian withstood the onslaught of attacks from EF Education First, who took home the final two stages with Lachlan Morton and Joe Dombrowski.

Travis McCabe (Floyd's Pro Cycling) win the points classification, with João Almeida (Hagens Berman Axeon) as best young rider and Hayden McCormick (Team Bridgelane) in the mountains jersey.

The 2019 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah returns for its 15th year with 767.8 kilometres of racing over seven days, starting with a prologue time trial at Snowbird Resort on Monday, August 12, and concluding with the traditional final stage that starts and finishes in Park City on Sunday, August 18.

In between, the race will visit North Logan City, Brigham City, Powder Mountain Resort, Antelope Island State Park, North Salt Lake and Salt Lake City. The 2019 Tour of Utah route features 15 intermediate sprints, 13 KOMs and 11,546.4 metres of elevation gain.

Teams expected on the start line include EF Education First, Trek-Segafredo, Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM, Hagens Berman Axeon, Israel Cycling Academy, Nippo-Vini Fantini-Faizanè, Rally UHC Cycling, Team Bridgelane, 303 Project, Aevolo, Arapahoe-Hincapie, Elevate-KHS, Wildlife Generation-Maxxis, Canel’s-Specialized Cycling, Dauner-AKKON Pro Cycling, DC Bank Pro Cycling Team and Worthy Pro Cycling.

Jumbo-Visma's Sepp Kuss won the 2018 race on the back of three stage wins. Israel Cycling Academy's Ben Hermans was second, followed by Mitchelton-Scott's Jack Haig rounding out the general classification podium.
