Ebbett and Bourqe win dual slalom
Course's own designer takes the win
Highland MTB Park served as stop number five of the Gravity East Series. Sunny, blue-sky weather helped make a great weekend of racing, and in spite of two competing gravity events in the region, 139 downhill racers and 43 dual slalom competitors turned out - by far the largest turnout of any of the weekend's races.
The courses, prepared for the event by the Highland Trail Crew, also were a higlight of the weekend. Saturday's dual slalom was an old school dual slalom cousre. It was designed and constructed by Kyle Ebbett with assistance of a trail crew of 10 people that worked almost non-stop for two weeks to prepare for this weekend. The work showed,
"This is probably one of the best dual slalom courses I have seen in my entire career of racing," said Brady Owens of Derailed.com and the weekend's substitute dual slalom Coordinator.
Course designer Kyle Ebbett secured the top podium spot for the elite men and Dawn Bourque took the elite women's win.
