Delray Beach Twilight off NCC calendar

USA Cycling announced this week some minor changes to its 2014 national road calendars.

The opening race of the National Criterium Calendar (NCC), the Delray Beach Twilight Festival, will not be a part of the series due to budget issues. The race will still take place in Florida on March 22, and is part of the USA CRITS series.

The NCC will now begin with the Sunny King Criterium on April 5, in Anniston, Alabama.

In another minor change, the Winston-Salem Classic Criterium (NCC), previously scheduled for Friday, April 18, will now be held on Saturday, April 19, while the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, previously scheduled for April 17, will now be held on April 18.

Budget Issues....I would say it has nothing to due with that! Delray is one of the best crit races in the US, with a plenty big budget. I would say its finally a race orginization standing up to USA cyclings endless list of rules and mandatory expenses that they add whenever they choose in order to be NCC. USA cycling is a monopoly. Either pay this and keep paying these new fees that we added on or we will remove you. USA Cyling even asks you for almost $1,000 after you add a race to the calender, to go into a pool for the entire NCC series (that you must pay or be removed) for doping control that they say, may or may not show up to your specific race. Thats ridiculous, when the race is will to personal pay for its own doping control. Either you guarantee them or you allow them to pay for there own doping control. The list goes on and on with USA cycling and there tactics. Glad to see a race stick up to USA cycling. I beat that race will still be one of the best in 2014.
