Biography:
Marlen Reusser is a Swiss rider who came to professional cycline later in life than most, having taken up cycling at university while studying arts and then medicine. She began competing at the international level in 2017 and continued working part time as a doctor while racing until she turned professional as an athlete. Her first major result was winning the European Games in the time trial in 2019, establishing herself quickly among the most talented riders in the peloton.
In 2020, she was second to Anna van der Breggen in the time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Imola, beating former world champions Ellen van Dijk and Lisa Brennauer in the process.
After surprising to win the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and then landing on the podium at the Simac Ladies Tour and Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta, Reusser repeated as European time trial champion and again won the silver medal at Worlds. She signed with the powerful SD Worx team for 2022.
Reusser used her power to solo to a stage victory at the Tour de France Femmes in 2022 before adding another European title in the individual time trial to her Palmares.
In 2023, she added Gent-Wevelgem with another solo win, a podium at Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the overall Itzulia Women title and Tour de Suisse. She won the final time trial stage at the Tour de France Femmes and a third European TT title but dropped out of the race at the World Championships in Glasgow, citing mental and physical fatigue.
