La Flèche Wallonne 2012
Latest News from the Race
La Flèche Wallonne is the second of the three Ardennes Classics and dates back to 1936. This year's staging is the 76th in the race's history and, with 38 wins, Belgian riders have won over half of the 75 editions so far.
Defending champion Philippe Gilbert (BMC) will be looking to keep that proud tradition going and he showed signs of a long-awaited return to form in last weekend's Amstel Gold Race. He will face stiff competition from a high class field in the World Tour event, which tests the riders over almost 200km and three gruelling climbs up the Mur de Huy as the race reaches its conclusion.
Gilbert's teammate Cadel Evans won La Flèche Wallonne in 2010, and the reigning Tour de France champion is hoping to be passed fit to make the startline once again.
