Philadelphia International Cycling Classic - Men race overview

Organisers of the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, G4 Productions, announced last fall that they had upgraded their men's race from UCI 1.2 to 1.1 status in 2016, making it a bigger draw-in for the top international and domestic teams and racers. The race is held on June 5 in Pennsylvania, and coincides with the Women's WorldTour event.

The race is held on the classic, one-day course, which for the past three years has started and finished at the top of the circuit's main climb on Manayunk Wall. The peloton drops off The Wall and follows a 19.2km circuit that included climbs over Lemon Hill, Strawberry Mansion and flat sections along Kelly Drive.

The men will race for a total of nine laps and around 173km.

During the 2015 Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, Spanish rider Carlos Barbero Cuesta (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) sprinted from a small breakaway group to take the victory ahead of Michael Woods (Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) and Toms Skujins (Hincapie).
