Milan-San Remo 2017

Latest News from the Race

Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) came up trumps on the Via Roma, beating world champion Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) in a three-man sprint.

The trio slipped away from a diminished peloton near the top of the Poggio, with Sagan sparking off the race-winning move. Sagan's attack came off the back of a steady pace set by Team Sky on the final climb of the day, much to the frustration of Tom Dumoulin who had tried to force a much zippier ascent.

Sagan, Kwiatkowski and Alaphilippe had a maximum of 20 seconds on their chasers but it was more than enough to ensure that they were the ones battling it out for victory. Sagan launched his sprint first but Kwiatkowski let him take a small lead before moving past him. It took a photo finish to split the pair.
