Together Colombian National Team riders Darwin Atapuma and Sergio Luis Henao rode away from the peloton on the Tour de Beauce's third stage, left to sort out the honours between themselves. Atapuma took the stage win with Henao by his side, with the latter claiming the general classification lead.
The Colombians started the day 1:30 minutes down overall, having lost the time to Swiss rider Danilo Wyss (BMC Racing Team) on the opening stage. Wyss cracked on the 155 kilometre stage which shattered the peloton. He finished nearly five minutes behind in 20th place.
While the duo took command of the general classification, the race is far from over. United States of American rider Scott Zwizanski (Kelly Benefit Strategies) is the only rider within a minute of the pair heading into tomorrow's 20 kilometre time trial.
