2016 Gent-Wevelgem overview
Gent-Wevelgem is more often than not a chance for the sprinters to have a go, but it also favours the brave and a solo attack stands a chance to make it to the line. Peter Sagan mixed up the formula by joining Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo) and Sep Vanmarcke (LottoNl-Jumbo) in an attack on the Kemmelberg that caught solo breakaway Viacheslav Kuzentsov.
Sagan kept the pressure on in the breakaway, and then timed his final surge perfectly to win over Vanmarcke, with Kuznetsov in third.
