2015 European Track Championships

The 2015 European Track Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland will be the fifth edition after inaugurating in 2010. The five-day competition will be a key indicator for those hoping to take part in the Rio Olympic Games in less than a year’s time.

Britain top the all-time medal standings with 19 golds and 31 in total. They’re bringing a strong field with Bradley Wiggins making his debut appearance in the competition alongside riders such as Laura Trott and Jason Kenny.

Hot on their heels will be traditional rivals France and Germany, while Russia will also be looking to add to the 11 golds they’ve got from the first four editions. For the French, Madison world champions Bryan Coquard and Morgan Kneiseky will be lining up together again, while Francois Pervis is a formidable opponent in both the Keirin and the kilometre TT. Scratch race world champion Lucas Liss and sprint world champion Kristina Vogel will headline the German team.

For the home nation, Stefan Keung will switch from the road to the track to compete in the individual pursuit. Another rider delaying his winter holiday is Elia Viviani, who will be competing for Italy in the Omnium.

A total of 63 medals will be up for grabs throughout the competition, with 21 of those being the prized gold medal.
