Along the way, we sit down with Tour de France winner Chris Froome to talk fame, feuds and hitting back at the critics convinced he is cheating. We also talk to John Degenkolb following his magnificent spring in which he became the first rider since 1986 to win Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix in the same season. Andre Greipel, winner of four Tour stages, tells us just how fine the line is between victory and failure really is. Meanwhile Geraint Thomas, so impressive in every theatre – Classics, short stage races and Grand Tours – reflects on his transition from domestique to leader and his aspirations for 2016.
We also analyse the supreme consistency of two very different riders: the indefatigable and wily Alejandro Valverde who topped the WorldTour rankings and Alexander Kristoff, who won 20 races including the Tour of Flanders. We also examine what contribution Alberto Contador’s Giro victory makes to his impressive legacy as his edges towards retirement. Fabio Aru at 25, could well turn out to be his successor having won the Vuelta and finishing in the top five in the last four Grand Tours he’s started.
And like every issue, Procycling’s 2015 review is superbly designed and showcases the work of one of the sport’s best photographers, Tim de Waele.
