World champion Oscar Freire (Rabobank) has undergone a minor surgical procedure to remove "irritated subcutaneous epidermis", from the body area Robbie McEwen recently dubbed the 'undercarriage', according to his team.
Freire has been having difficulties with his undercarriage for several months and last week abandoned the Tour of Switzerland because of the problem. However, Rabobank's medical team is now confident that they have got to the bottom of the trouble and Freire is expected to be able to resume training in two weeks' time.
