Tour of Flanders

The second of cycling's five monuments got a significant make-over in the 2012 Tour of Flanders. Organisers caused much controversy when they removed the fabled Muur van Geraardsbergen from the parcours, choosing a finishing circuit around Oudenaarde instead.

The bad feelings were wiped away when the triple including the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg proved to be a fitting challenge, and the home favourite Tom Boonen emerged victorious for a historic third time.

This year Boonen isn't the favourite with Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack) the biggest contenders.
