Amstel Gold Race Women 2017

Latest News from the Race

Anna van der Breggen soloed to victory in the women's Amstel Gold Race, back on the calendar after a 14-year hiatus, with teammate Lizzie Deignan winning the five-up chasing sprint to make it a Boels-Dolmans one-two.

Deignan found herself at the front of affairs towards the closing stages of an action-packed race, but Van der Breggen hitched a ride when compatriot Annemiek Van Vleuten (Orica-Scott) set off in pursuit, with Sunweb's Coryn Rivera also tagging along to form a group of six out front, with Elisa Longo-Borghini (Wiggle-High5), Katarzyna Niewiadoma (WM3) already there alongside Deignan.

It wasn't long before Van der Breggen, wearing the jersey of European champion, took flight, and she wouldn't be seen again, enjoying ample time on the home straight to soak it in and celebrate her first victory for her new team.
