With her Sunweb team fully committed to her cause at the Tour of Flanders, American Coryn Rivera paid them back with a narrow sprint victory over Gracie Elvin (Orica-Scott) and Chantal Blaak (Boels Dolmans). Rivera, who also won Trofeo Alfredo Binda last month, struggled to comprehend what she had done in the immediacy of the victory, explaining in here post-race TV interview "I can't begin to explain it yet."
An elite group, containing the likes of Elisa Longo Borghini, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten, had gone clear in the finale but inside the final 1.5km the chase group which contained Rivera made contact. A 19-rider front group then rode into the finish with a bunch sprint the inevitable conclusion. However, who had the fastest legs on the day wouldn't be decided until the final metres as Rivera held off the fast-charging Elvin for the biggest win of her career.
